The Kieren Mates Appeal

On the 29th of August 2019, Senior Constable Kieren Mates suffered a brain aneurysm and had a subsequent stroke that has left him paralysed down his left side and with severe memory and brain function loss.

Kieren requires a number of surgeries and will undergo a lengthy residential rehabilitation schedule that will require his family to live away from their family home. At the completion of the rehabilitation, it is envisaged that he will require a full time carer.

Kieren's care plan is expensive meaning he requires assistance from the community to maintain the level of care he needs.
